December Music Reviews
Ok, it’s been a while since I have posted anything. I sent in a review of Ocean’s 12, but it never made it to the site. Anyway life has been good, it is definitely good to be home, even though I did well at Binghamton. Well, I don’t have much else to say so I will just jump right into this month’s music reviews. This month I have The Music – Welcome To The North and the Trans Siberian Orchestra concert I went to last night.
The Music’s second album Welcome To The North is full of great music. For those of you that have not heard of The Music they are from England and they sound like a cross between Jane’s Addiction and Led Zeppelin. I first saw The Music in concert, when they opened for Incubus at Binghamton’s new events center. I thought they were good but the sound quality in the place was not very good. When I heard Freedom Fighters, their first single off Welcome To The North, I knew I had to go pick this one up. Breakin, the song you are most likely to hear on the radio or see the video for is kinda corny but it is still very good. The rest of the album is very different sounding. The guitar player is awesome. I can’t find their names anywhere, I think their web site expired or something. Anyway if you like Led Zeppelin or Jane’s Addiction I would strongly recommend The Music. So, in conclusion I give The Music’s second album Welcome To The North an 7 out of 10.
Last night I went to the Trans Siberian Orchestra with my father at Madison Square Garden. First off I would like to say that the show was incredible. If you like Christmas music you have to check this out. The band is made up of 3 guitar players, a drummer, 2 keyboard players, an orchestra, and 8 different singers. Some of the singers are from the opera and some of them are from are from nightclubs and things. The show was a cross between a Broadway show, opera, and rock concert. They play classical music and primarily Christmas music, with a rock twist. They also had great special effects. It was almost like I was watching a laser light show on top of the concert. Anyway I had a great time and I would definitely go back again. It was one of the better shows I have even seen.
[Chris’ Note: Sheppard’s review for Ocean’s Twelve was forever lost in my Outlook Inbox. Well, maybe not forever…]
