Where in the world is Chris Wodicka?
Yes, I’ve been home since Friday. Yes, I haven’t updated since Friday. Yes, the boxes have been moved since the weekend. I’ve just been busy, in a relative sense of the word.
Here’s a lengthy, impersonal account of my winter break thus far:
Friday: Arrived at South Bend Regional Airport. Flew on a small, propellor-powered plane. Arrived at Chicago’s Midway Airport. Had a strange, non-English-speaking guy ask to sit next to me when there were plenty of empty seats at the gate. Boarded a real plane, seated next to fellow Chaminade alumnus Matt Wynne. Briefly carried on a “conversation.” Arrived in New York. My dad did not recognize me, because of my long, emo-like hair. Returned to Malverne and ate some food.
“Saturday” (best read aloud when standing near bowl of snacks): Woke up early and ate food. Went to my brother’s basketball game. Watched little kids play basketball. M Wod’s team won by one point. Greg left his family’s birthday bash thrown for Jesus (“who’s Jesus?”) and took me to the mall (#1). We also went to Barnes & Noble and Coldstone. We went to the house with the big, flat-screen TV and watched the end of the Falcons and Panthers (Cardiac Kids? What???). At some point, I began to feel ill, suffering from a cold.
Sunday: I woke up early and went to church. Then, I went to my aunt and uncle’s house to celebrate my cousin Dan’s birthday. He got lots of really neat gifts at his Spider-man-themed birthday party. I went with Greg again to the big-TV house to see Peyton Manning break the TD record. However, that didn’t actually happen. People played pool and such, while I slowly died on the couch. It began to snow. I found myself in bed later that night, hearing Mariah Carey Christmas songs in my head.
Monday: I was supposed to wake up early to eat breakfast with my relatives from Indiana, but that was cancelled. I slept really late. Around 2:00, I departed with Brendan for the holiday shopping. We had some Quiznos as well. Mmm toasty. Sadly, we had to travel to the mall (#2). I learned that my relatives and immediate family were having dinner over my grandparents’, so Brendan dropped me off there. We ate Chinese food, which I hate, and watched Seinfeld DVDs. I came home and played Madden until real late. It was a fairly pathetic thing to do.
Tuesday: I slept in late. My brother stayed home from school, because he needed minor foot surgery on his infected toe. My parents also had a run-in with some littering teenagers. These two factors woke me up. I got my hair cut. That night, I went with Greg to see Ocean’s Twelve. First, we had to find a way to escape his house, because Greg was supposed to be watching his younger siblings. Luckily, we left the dog in charge and went to meet Sheppard. We went to the mall (#3) to get iTrip and other stuff. Gerry, Flaster, Greg, and I saw the movie. It was enjoyable and funny. However, the confusing aspects seemed forced. Also, much of the plot developments seemed too convenient for me. All in all, it was a solid movie. Maybe not as good or as smart as the original, but it’s a sequel. We ate donuts, and Greg met some people he knew, which was pretty random (something C-wod.com supports).
Wednesday: I woke up late. We bought a Christmas tree and decorated it. That night, I went to the Tin Alley Grill for Cara’s birthday. We ate food and did other restaurant-type things. We skipped out on karaoke and went to buy Napoleon Dynamite at the mall (#4). It was sold out, and we went shopping for women’s underwear instead. Came home and went to bed.
Thursday: I woke up relatively early to go shopping with my dad. We went to Circuit City, and I picked out a digital camera, my parents’ gift to me. Then, we went off doing other shopping and finally got home later in the day. Wrapped gifts and placed them underneath the tree. I went to Cara’s house for cookie baking. I wore pajamas. Brendan told everyone about how, when we first met, I told him I didn’t know how to run. After making cookies, we watched 13 Going on 30. Jennifer Garner and the actor who played Gollum are both in it. I think that totally justifies my watching it. It was such a sweet, sappy, feel-good story, too, and I just fall for those anyway. I returned home! I am now here.
I wonder what tomorrow will bring? Eating out at a restaurant, perhaps? One can only hope.
Merry Christmas to all from the C-wod.com family. Yes, we’re kind of like a family.
