I Heart Huckabees
I absolutely hated Lost In Translation and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but when Welsh, C-Wod, and I watched I Heart Huckabees last night I found it quite interesting. I guess it was because this movie was much more funny then the aforementioned. Lost In Translation lost me in translation because all the little stupid inside jokes and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind I discovered the whole plot line right away and I was really bored. This movie was still very strange, but it was funny and thought provoking, in a good way. Basically these three guys (Marky Mark, Jason Schwartzman, and Jude Law) are drawn to an existential detective agency, where the Jaffe’s (Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin) dissect their client’s lives to figure them out or something. I don’t really know what they did other then be annoying and mess things up for the people that come to them. However, I found them really funny, what they do is ridiculously stupid, but it is bearable to watch because they are funny. The three main characters also bump into Caterine Vauban, (Isabelle Huppert) a French philosopher that contradicts the Jaffe’s ideas. In the end the three main characters come to a revelation. The movie has a plot, unlike Lost in Translation, but it is not exactly the greatest plot in the world. However, that might have been because my friend Matt and his girlfriend, Allie, who started watching half way through, distracted me. As C-Wod would say, it is a character-based movie not a plot oriented one. One specific thing I noticed about this movie was the multiple references to weed. You will see what I am talking about if you watch the seen where Marky Mark and Jason Schwartzman are hitting each other in the face with this big inflatable ball. The person who wrote this movie must have been high when he was writing it. Anyway, I liked this movie because of its strange humor, but I would not recommend this movie to people who do not like strange things. I give I Heat Huckabees one thumb up.

Lost In Translation, and Eternal Sunshine are two of the most beautifully written movies of the past couple years
