Barenaked is Back
The Barenaked Ladies recently release their 10th studio album, Barenaked Ladies Are Me. Their last album, Everything to Everyone was pretty bad. The songs were stupid and often repetitive. This is not the case with this album. Their sound has matured on this album and it has matured for the best. The lead single off the album is Easy. This song while catchy was not the best choice for the first single. There are plenty of other songs on the album that are far superior. Bank Job is a slower paced song that still incorporates the ladies witty comedic style. It’s a pretty cool effect. Other bright spots include Sound of Your Voice, Bull In a China Shop, Peterborough and the Kawarthas, and Rule the World With Love. Jim Creegan steps it up on this album, not only writing songs but as a vocalist as well. I have always said that is what makes them entertaining, the different vocal styles. Anyway, my favorite song is Wind It Up. It reminds me of the One Week and Pinch Me days. I would say this is my second favorite Barenaked Ladies album. Maroon was a good album, but this one easily surpasses it. It is really a great listen, go pick this one up. I give Barenaked Ladies Are Me a 10.
