Cornell Splits
Chris Cornell has offically quit Audioslave. This was something that many people saw comming after the mainstream failure of their last two albums. Other signs that pointed to the break-up of Audioslave was the announcement that Rage Against The Machine will be playing at Cochella and the release of Cornell’s recent solo album. Cornell cited musical differences for his departure. Morello and Cornell never really saw eye to eye on their music styles. Morello’s politcal agendas were missing from much of their first two albums and made a reappearence on their most recent release, which I previously mentioned failed. Audioslave’s debut album, an album that was pretty much layed out musically by the band with Cornell comming in after the fact and adding his lyrics, wound up being their best album. That alone should tell you about how they never really got along. I mean who would have thought that some politcall funk rockers would combine with one of Grunge’s heros and make it last. Personally, I thought that Audioslave was going to be better the Rage and go on to great things. I had often expressed feelings that Audioslave was one of my favorite bands, however that died about a year ago. So, I guess I would say I am happy that Audioslave split and hope Rage gets back together for good.
