Yours Truly, Angry Mob
My knee is currently not capable of being used, so I figured that I would close out this weekend of sitting in my room with a review of the Kaiser Chiefs seconds album, Yours Truly, Angry Mob. I remember back in freshman year when I saw these guys on MTVU with their breakthrough single I Predict A Riot. Although I only gave their debut album a seven, I predicted big things for this group. They have a lot of potential, however I don’t think that this album is much better then their previous effort. The lead single on this album, Ruby is catchy and well developed. The second track The Angry Mob opens very well, but drags on with over two minutes with the same We are the angry mob/ we read the papers every day/ we like who we like/ we hate who we hate/ but were also easily swayed to conclude the song. Boxing Champ is an excellent piano arrangement, but it only last a minute and a half. They should have tried to add a bit more to that one. Learnt My Lesson Well is a solid song and probably my favorite track on the album. Not much wrong with that one. These guys are receiving high acclaim in England, but they are still struggling a bit here. They are worth your time, but they are not really groundbreaking or anything. To make it a little clearer, they are like the English version of the Killers. So, in conclusion I would say that this album is par with there previous album, therefore deserving of a 7.
